The 12-Bar Blues Why It Sounds So Good
I just got into your videos yesterday and my mind is just exploding with understanding of what's happening now. Thank you so much for illuminating this. Really special.
coming from a visual art background, I can now SEE what makes notes, that add up to chords, and the much easier, way to make music! Isn't that what we all want? Thank you Mike.
So its "play note skip note x3" for all basic chords? I'm sure I've played pieces that have more dissonant chords so do I just have to spot if notes are out of place and take it on a case by case basis? How would I determine the name of it?
Thank you very much Sir. This is helpful...
I just purchased the Circle of Fifths Tool that you used here. I have been playing for a long time but my playing has been very generic and predictable. So... I started taking lessons a few months ago and have learned a little bit more theory. My teacher started demonstrating the substitute chords and I loved it. This thing is going to give me a great visual tool so that I can see how it all fits together.
Mike, your explanations along with the graphics are amazing. I've been playing guitar for 40 years... learing a lot from your channel. thank you.
Beginner????
I....wait... mind = blown
I.... wait... mind = blown
I don't think I've ever seen this explained like this, you finally made it make sense for me!
Great video.
I never really noticed how dissonant augmented chords sound.
Solid video, well done. My one suggestion would be to start each progression example by playing the chords by themselves, without any vocals so we can really hear it, then maybe add the vocals the second time through.
"Everything you've ever been told is wrong. Only I know the true way. Oh you haven't heard of me?!? Weird since I am the one true master of this thing I am trying to sell you."
Thanks for this great walkthrough
You make this so simple ... I will waterpaint the colors & shapes..while listening
didnt undersand the full lesson
Finally answers!!!!! I’m self taught and this is helping me a lot
I luckily knew what you talking about, I started playing piano and this makes sense to me. It will improve my guitar play for sure, so thanks ❤
Amazing, Mike. I now finally understand how about his all works and why. Your explanations and graphics make the pentatonics so easy to comprehend. This roadmap will serve me well! Thanks for sharing. Subbed!
Awesome stuff Sir 👏 THANK YOU SO MUCH
Hello, thansk for sharing! Does thinking or memorize the scale/chord as a +1 whole step Ionion(major) mode right way to do?
Great. I am even MORE confused. Thank you
A tiny but absolutely essential bit of information when describing modes is there are no accidentals (black keys) used. It took me forever to hear the modes starting with cmaj until someone made that clear.
Visualizing the fret board and string as an axis between the chromatic scale and the circle of fifths (and fourths in the other direction)...brilliant and extremely helpful. Thanks x 1M.
The explanation is just a narration a parrot can speak , in other words if it is slowed down and demonstrated step by step and step into a new guitar players world maybe a good start for a different approach to deliver the circle of fifths
LOL "A" onlian Not "E" onlian Aeolian :)
Super helpful!
As a three day beginner, i just got 30% of all this video. I'll just come back in a month haha
lotta cereal… and maybe some meat… idk… couldn’t listen to the professor… just couldn’t do it. ☮️
Merci from Switzerland.
Thank you George, your explanation is amazing!
The best music lesson of my life... I wish I had this as a kid!:)
When I play this song I use D minor as 4th and E minor as 5th. What seems strange is D natural and E natural both of which have notes outside of the minor key (F# & G#). Try with the 4th and 5t😢h as minor chords and see the difference.
🎼🎼There is so much music theory learning here.I will have to replay it a few times to appreciate its deep dive.Thanks.🎸🎵
Sir can u please make a new a tutorial video for beginner's
Thank you sooo much!

Mike George- my take, an American David Bennett teaching music theory. Despite my studying some years, this first intro for me to circle of thirds. Revealing!
why did I take a dab before trying to learn this
Genius, it makes so much sense it is incredible.
Hello, where do I get the color stickers for the chords on the neck of the guitar? I would like to get the documents pertaining to all of your lessons. Could you tell me where to go?
Was it helpful??? THIS IS LIFECHANGING. I have never heard of music theory in these terms and I am so excited to learn about it now! Thank you!!
There is no raised 6th...either flat 6 or flat 7th.
Love The Monkees music 🎶 actors and musicians! The are great in concert 🎶😎 of course I think of Daydream Believer when it comes to music from 1967!!!
''They couldn't read a single note''...there's a big clue that it was all, or mostly done, by professional songwriters.
Amazing
It helps to think in scale degree (1 - 7) not note name (A - G). The major scale, from 1, is Step, Step, Half Step, Step, Step, Step. Half Step. This is the same as Do, Re, Mi ...If you barre across the fret board you have scale degrees 1, 4, 7b, 3b, 5, 1. If you want to play a chord you can easily find 1,5,1,3,5,1. This works starting from any fret position.
Hey Mike imma need you to put a little more respect on Coltranes name sir. He was a legend…. And a musical prophet
wistful, eh?
